Buenas noticias para los aficionados de las artes marciales mixtas en México. El día de hoy WEC anunció que han llegado a un acuerdo con Cadena Tres para transmitir sus eventos en nuestro país.

Mexico City, Mexico, July 31, 2008When it comes to the fight game, it is no secret that Mexico is home to some of the greatest fighters of all time. It also has the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable fans in the world. So it is with great excitement that Cadena Tres and the World Extreme Cagefighting ® (WEC™) organization are announcing their agreement to broadcast the fastest growing mixed martial arts organization in the world in Mexico.

Today’s announcement comes from Peter Dropick, the WEC’s Vice President of Operations and Production, and Erik Zuckermann, Director of Programming and New Content for Cadena Tres. This groundbreaking deal – which establishes Cadena Tres as the official home to the WEC through 2009 - will commence with the broadcast of the WEC’s August 3 event featuring WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit, and will be followed by the September 10 card, which features separate bouts starring WEC pound-for-pound superstar Urijah Faber and Mexican sensation Leonard Garcia.

The WEC is home to many Mexican fighters, including pound-for-pound standout and WEC Bantamweight Champion Miguel Angel Torres, Manny Tapia, Leonard Garcia, Blas Avena, and many others.

“This partnership between Cadena Tres and the WEC is a groundbreaking event for Mexican television”, said Zuckermann. “We are the first free TV network to bring the Mexican audience this kind of contact sport in primetime. The WEC live events represent the perfect choice for Cadena Tres, which, being the newest option on Mexican free TV, continually bets on content that represents a unique and fresh option for our viewers. We are certain the WEC will represent one of the biggest hits on TV and Cadena Tres will be the channel to watch every week.”

To kick off the partnership, the WEC will be bringing some of the top talent to Mexico City, Mexico to meet with the media and Mexican fans.
